AUSTIN, John Leo, 66, of Coats, NC, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in his home on Tuesday July 12, 2016. Born November 15, 1949, he was a native of Arden, Delaware, and has made his home in Harnett County North Carolina since May of 1998. He was currently employed as a maintenance technician with Bahnson INC. at BIOGEN in RTP. He was the son of the late John Herbert and Mary Speck Austin. He served proudly in the United States Navy as a submariner during the Vietnam War. Graveside Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday July 16th at Lakeside Memorial Gardens, Angier, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:30 - 2:30 pm prior to the service on Saturday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier, NC. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Rowena Austin; daughters, Paloma Berry and husband, Trip of Hudson, FL, Rachel Ennis and husband, Brian of Angier, NC; sons, James Patrick and Christine Murray of Coats, NC Aaron Austin and wife, Katherine of Las Vegas, NV, Jason Patrick and wife, Jamie of Louisburg, NC; sisters, Joan Cheesbrough of Danielsville, PA, Sandra Carroll of Conway, SC, and Foster sister Julie Furman of Mt. Ranier, MD; grandchildren, Dylan Shaffer, Kristen Austin, Tommy Berry, Amber Austin, T.J. Berry, Rebekah Ennis, River Ennis, Noah Patrick , and Reed Ennis; in-laws; Leda Vinson Banning of Dover, Danae Vinson Raker of New Castle, Rachel Vinson Bello of Newark, Victoria Vinson Newton of Kennett Square, Nick Vinson of Claymont and Jim Vinson of Waynesboro PA. BEST Clyde Addison, resident of San Jose, CA, passed away July 9, 2016, at Regional Medical Center of San Jose of complications surrounding Pneumonia. Clyde, known as Cash, was born Feb. 2, 1939. Chief Petty Officer E-7, Cash served active duty in the US Navy for 8 years 1957 to 1965. He served aboard diesel and nuclear submarines. Cash was a member of the Naval Reserve, retiring in 2003. In 2003, he was instrumental is forming the Submarine Veteran Dolphin Base, USSVI Base Number 100. From its inception May 1, 2003, Cash served as Base Commander for five years. He helped fundraise and dedicated many hours to the Sub Vets Lost Boat Memorial. Cash was employed at NASA Ames Research Center as a Government Contractor for over 25 years, receiving letters of appreciation and awards. One phrase that consistently showed up in letters was "Above and Beyond". He retired from NASA in 2004. Cash was a very community minded person. He loved his family and was passionate about making his corner of the world a better place. Ten years ago, Cash became the President of Northwood Park Improvement Assoc. III, (NPIA3) and took over a community pool. He and his son Luke have turned this pool into an oasis in this community. It has become the heart of this neighborhood, being a safe and beautiful place for members to enjoy BBQ's, birthdays and other special events. Cash left behind the love of his life, his wife of almost 37 years, Kathryn C. Best. Kathy, like Cash, has volunteered for over 30 years at various schools in Milpitas. Kathy was nominated for and won several volunteer of the year awards. Between Cash and Kathy, there are 13 children, 20 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandson. He was preceded in death by 1 son and 1 granddaughter. He is survived by 2 brothers. Cash Best Remembrance, a public group has been set up on Facebook. ILGENFRITZ, John E., MCPOC, USN, Ret., 71, of Goose Creek passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2016 in Charleston, South Carolina. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, Jack was the son of the late Jerome and Anna Ilgenfritz. He was married to his High school sweetheart, Karen, for 52 beautiful years. Karen predeceased Jack in April 2016. During his life, Jack spent 25 years in the US Navy Submarine Service serving on USS Albacore (AGSS-569), USS Sea Robin (SS-407), USS Tinosa (SSN-606), USS James Madison (SSBN-627) (Gold), and USS Nathan Hale (SSBN-623) (Blue). He served as the Chief of the Boat on the USS Nathan Hale (SSBN-623) (BLUE). He also had numerous shore commands. His last assignment was as the Command Master Chief of Submarine Squadron Four at the Charleston Naval Base. Two of Jack's Major accomplishments during his Naval Career was attending Southern Illinois University of Carbondale Ill (Extension Program) and receiving his Bachelor of Science in Occupational Education in 1977. Since he had not completed high school prior to joining the U.S. Navy, Jack received his GED and High Equivalency Diploma prior to entering college while on active duty. The second accomplishment was attaining the rank of Command Master Chief. Jack was constantly saying how grateful he was that his beautiful wife Karen was behind all of his life's accomplishments, through her devotion, dedication and love for him and his family. Upon retirement from the US Navy, Jack was employed by the Navy Family Service Center, Charleston until 1992. He then went to work at the US Naval Consolidated Brig Charleston as the Life Skills Instructor until his final retirement in 2007. Jack was also a member of Charleston Base Submarine Veterans. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, helping raise his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was very proud of all of them. Jack had many friends around the country who he kept in contact with after retirement. Jack is survived by his children: daughter, Donna Lynn Taylor of Goose Creek; three sons, David M Ilgenfritz of Kingsland GA, Robert A. "Bobby" Ilgenfritz and wife, Yvonne of North Charleston, John E. Ilgenfritz Jr. and wife, Amy of Goose Creek; his brother, Ronald Ilgenfritz; grandchildren Robby, Kyle, and Zack Ilgenfritz, Jeffrey Taylor, Jenna Shebelski and husband P.J., John E III, Michael, Carey and Cody Ilgenfritz; and great-grand children, Lily, Kynlee, Jackson and Eli Ilgenfritz. Besides his parents and beloved wife, Karen, he was predeceased by his grandson, Jason Michael Taylor; brothers, Jerome and Richard Ilgenfritz and sisters, Dorothy Zawart, Ann Ernst, Elizabeth O'Leary, and Marlene Tracy. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 17, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, GOOSE CREEK CHAPEL. Mass of Christian Burial will be held, Monday, July 18, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Goose Creek. Burial will follow in Whispering Pines Memorial gardens, Moncks Corner (Strawberry). MORRIS, Aaron Bryson, passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2016. Aaron was a resident of Calera, Alabama at the time of his passing. Aaron was a Navy Veteran in the Submarine Services on the USS Redfin. The family will receive friends 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 13, 2016 with a Celebration of Life to follow at 12 noon, A Committal Service with Honors will follow the services at the Alabama National Cemetery.
