HOEFLER, Roger Sr.,. RMC, USN, Ret., 75, was called home to The Lord surrounded by family. He was born and raised in Buffalo, N.Y. to Roger V. Gallisdorfer and Henriette Murphy. He was a graduate of Burgard Technical School and traveled the world with family in tow and served in the Vietnam War. After retiring he worked for U.S. Government on submarines and that is how he and his wife moved to Norton, Ohio in 1984. He graduated from Hiram University with a Bachelors of Art in Business Management in 1989. He worked at Babcock and Wilcox, The USPS, and as a substitute teacher for Barberton City School and Akron Public School Districts specializing in Spanish. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Roger Gallisdorfer, Henriette Taylor, and adopted father, Fredrick "Fritz" Hoefler. He leaves behind, his loving wife, Sheila; sons, Roger Jr. (Gene) Hoefler, Ray (Norma) Hoefler, Jason (Dawn) Hoefler; brothers, Fred (Sue) Hoefler, Gerald (Patty) Gallisdorfer, Paul (Joann) Hoefler; sisters, Louanne Finnerty, Linda (Mike) Fraile; grandchildren, Stacey (Byron) White, Sheila (Bruce) Wagner, Justin Fowler, Jennifer (Jessica) Hoefler, Keith (Madeline) Hoefler, Tyler (Dez'juan) Dalton, Kaitlyn Hoefler, Jason Hoefler, Andrew Hoefler; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. Friends may call at Bacher Funeral Home in Norton on Sunday, March 19, 2017 from 2 to 4 p.m., where services will be held on Monday, March 20, 2017 at 10:30 a.m., with Rev. Richard Lapehn officiating. Interment with full military honors will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Barberton, donations may be made in his name there or at Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org).
