I have not heard from Corabelle on this BBS for a long while, so I recently sent her a message on her old e-mail address to what is now her nursing home . Unfortunately, I have received no reply from our good lady. Does anyone know anything about her status? Please advise if you have any information and oblige.

I have been thinking of her as well, I have her phone number, I'll try and give her a call in a little bit.

I just talked with Cora. She's doing as well as to be expected for 87 years old.
She had to move homes as she had an accident and they said they were not equipped to "handle" her any longer so she had to move.
She has been with out a computer for about 2 years now says she is trying to get another one. Maybe a laptop or an iPad.
She was happy to have some one care and take the time to call.
We had a nice chat.
She asked about Roy Ator and we had to tell he had passed only a little while ago. She was sad to hear this.

Uneffing believable! A nursing home was "unable to care for her" after she injured herself there and she had to go home? Why the hell was she there in the first place and if she was injured too badly for a nursing home why wasn't she transported to a hospital? Now whose taking care of her?

Steve, she had to go to another "home". Her house was sold. Too bad it was a nice little place and almost brand new. We stopped in to see her driving Patti's last load of stuff out here a few years ago.

Ric,

Thank you for the feedback, mate. We did it once before for Dex, we got him another computer, so why don't we do it again for Cora? This is this lovely ladies only lifeline with us and the outside world and we really need to help out Slim's little sister here. I am willing to contribute $150 and send the cash to whoever is prepared to organise this. Anyone who can arrange this purchase and its delivery in the US please step forward and assist. Please let's not waste anymore valuable time. Many thanks.

I will spring for a refurbished laptop for her. Get me the shipping info. SOOn to take advantage of the availability.

WHO will set it up for her on the other end? We had that trouble with Dex.

It will NOT be LINUX system.

Nice one John. Just a thought about getting assistance in setting up the connection for Cora. If I am right in assuming her present care home is still in the Rapid City area, I don't imagine there are too many submarine vets out that way that could help. Ellsworth USAF base is only ten miles up the road from Rapid City. Perhaps a letter/e-mail to the CO might result in a couple of computer savvy airmen (which would be most of them) being spared to help out an old lady in distress. Maybe a little inter-service cooperation would be in the offing. Worth a try - you never know your luck.

Has anyone considered what would happen to her self esteem if she can't properly operate a new system. Could this friendly act of giving become unfriendly to a great lady? Just a thought.

I spoke to Cora last evening on the phone. At first I think she was taken a little by surprise, perhaps having been awoken from her afternoon siesta. She seemed pretty upbeat but is having a hard time adjusting to her care home. She still misses her own home and her dog, Gracie. Without any prompting from me, she did express how she misses her laptop and being able to keep in touch with this BBS. This lovely lady still has all her faculties and is fully aware of things going on around her. She sends her fondest regards to you all. Could John Bay please send me his postal address so I can send him some cash and oblige.

Might be nice to see what OS she was using along with browser she was using, etc.  That way she won't have to learn a lot of new software and get her online faster.
