Master and Commander Posts: 1576 Location: Wollongong, NSW | Subject: RE: Cold War Boat Mostly correct but unless "passengers" were carried, each member had an own bunk. Some passengers could be bunked in the fore-ends without causing much disruption to the torpedo load. Just required some fish in the tubes - normal case anyway. Didn't notice the smell until the boat 'opened up' to clean air. All in it together and smelt together. Cold water was better than the tropics; bilges stayed cold and relatively smell free compared to the smell when the seawater is 85 F. Bacteria fester so much better when they are warm. | ||
