In spite of my joke about the Hooters gals, I can still put 2 couples up here in Houston. You will be in my thoughts and prayer though out the next week. When and if you can, please post or call some on this BBS to let us know how you are doing. Stoops

I hope Joe is on high(er) ground being in Fort Pierce/Port St. Lucie, on the Atlantic coast, but there ARE barrier islands between him and the ocean itself.

Master and Commander Posts: 1454 | Subject: RE: Irma Port St Lucie is experiencing a much reduced hurricane. The storm's eye went a bit to the West and will hammer the west coast with high surges, rain and wind. Where Joe is they are now saying a 2 to 4 ft surge and winds around 90 mph in gusts. I was sweating out my place just a couple air miles from the Atlantic Ocean. Wind driven rain may be an issue. My kids will be back there by Tuesday and hopefully not one of "those" phone calls. There's tornado watches out where my place is but that's par for the course during hurricanes. That took a section of my roof tiles during Wilma in 2005. No roof leaks though. There's another disturbance coming off the African coast right now that looks to develop something.

Irma is supposed to pass, west of us, around 10:30PM. No damage, so far and power is still on. I have an auto start Generac whole house generator if/when it does. Sheltering in place (with 3 evacuees from the flood zones). Evacuating when not called for causes problems for those who need to. Traffic, fuel shortages, etc. Zero Bubble, Palm Bay Ken
