Be interesting to see what the German government wants to do with the information. If the hull is still watertight, (not likely), it might be possible to repatriate the remains. Depending on how stable the remaining torpedoes are it might be possible to do that. Or, leave the sub where it is as a war grave.

Unless they went inside, how do they know there are the remains of 23 crew members inside? Mine blast probably would have fired torpedoes if they were unstable. Time in water does not normally affect the explosive but time on the detonator can be a very different kettle of fish.
