DOMINGUEZ, Benjamin Montoya, Born December 18, 1929 and has passed away at home in Paramount, CA on October 4, 2017. Benjamin graduated from Tucson High School in 1948. He entered the Navy in August of 1948. He served as a naval submariner. He married Charlene Bellamak and moved to Los Angeles. He worked at Consolidated Steel while attending CSDH and graduated in 1973. He retired from Consolidated Steel and the City of Los Angeles in 1999. His wife Charlene Bellamak, his sons, Michael Dominguez and Stephen Dominguez and his granddaughter Julia Dominguez, preceded him in death. He is survived by 4 brothers and 2 sisters, Jesus Dominguez, Elias Dominguez, George Dominguez, Alfred Dominguez, Alicia Velasco and Josephine Garcia; children, Alex Higgins, Tom Dominguez, Chris Dominguez and Laura Dominguez; 5 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. Viewing to be held on Wednesday October 11, 2017 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at All Souls Mortuary, 4400 Cherry Ave, Long Beach CA. Mass to be held on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Our Lady of the Rosary in Paramount CA at 11am. Burial will follow at All Souls Cemetery. Please sign the guestbook at www.presstelegram.com/obits. HANES, Harold Stuart, Jr., 89, of Old Saybrook, beloved husband of Lajla Hanes, died peacefully on Oct.4, 2017. He was born in New Britain, Connecticut on December 22,1927. After graduating from New Britain High School in 1945, he attended Williams College and then served in the US Navy Submarine service [USS Requin (SS-481)]. He graduated from Bryant College. He started his career with the Phoenix Insurance Company. Mergers took him to Transamerica, Little Aetna, Cigna and Computer Science Corporation. He and his family enjoyed living in Kensington,La Canada, California, ,Avon, Annapolis, Maryland and Old Saybrook. An avid sports enthusiast, Stu enjoyed sailing, tennis, and golf. After retirement, he and Lajla lived aboard their boat, moved to Old Saybrook, and traveled the U.S. in their RV. His retirement community service in Old Saybrook included Planning Commission, leader of Old Saybrook Senior Tennis and local coordinator of AARP Tax Aide. He is survived by Lajla, his wife of 66 years and his daughter Sandy Daly and her husband Dennis of Hilton Head, SC. Also, 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He leaves 3 sisters, Gloria Sinclair, Lucille Hanes and Sa'an Tibbetts and husband Bill. Also, sister-in-law Ellen Van Buren. He was pre-deceased by his son, Thomas C. Hanes. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Oct.18 at 1 pm at First Church of Christ in Saybrook.
