Subject: PT in the Navy,

This is article about the physical fitness of todays Navy.

Does any one else remember the PT programs started at the "suggestion"of JFK in the early 60"s. I remember the whole crew on the dock doing calisthenics after morning muster. It was almost painful to watch. Some didn't have arms long enough to get their bellies off the ground. the program did not last long if I recall.

The only JFKs I did in the navy, at A School, New London, and Charleston were beer ball games.

While at EB we all mustered for a JFK. That was the only time. 1966 maybe.

Never did JFK's on active duty in the mid 70's. It is tough to stay in shape on a WestPac.
I couldn't swim one length of the PH base pool after we got back. It took several months of skin diving to get back in shape.
