I did however visit Ranch Point and Nanaimo up north for cold weather torpedo operations. Years later I saw a presentation of torpedo recovery on the ice after a submerged boat fired one. They would cut a hole and divers would descend to attach a harness to the torpedo. I will never forget the presenter saying that the divers loved to get in the water. Once in the water they were at probably 24 degrees where as standing on the ice waiting it was minus 40. That is cold no matter how you look at it. | ||
