Maybe what is old is new again; or, is this just a cover story to test some new weapon?

It is an easy way to cause activity over the horizon. Standard rack fit; sea-skimming, firing submarine has very little exposure. Nothing parabolic to give a localization area.

Wondering if it requires the installation of a bunch of fire control gear in the boat. Or maybe a "Find the Bad Guys" module in the missile?

Existing fire control and sonar systems are more than adequate - proven by firings three decades ago; boats capable of targeting the Mk 48 torpedo could target sub-harpoon.
