I find that Down Periscope movie quite funny.

As to the string across the missile compartment when going to test depth, we did that.

At test depth we tied the string tight and had a pool to see at what depth going up the string would break.

Well, after 3 hours of reading all that drivel I'm burned out!!! A few bubbleheads tried to keep it focused but the nitwits just kept driving off the cliffs.
Up Periscope was good because I know I served with everyone of those nutcases.
Good shots of Pampanito being towed around the bay.
Don't care for Kelsey Grammer. Never could stand his TV shows.

Kelsey Grammer is OK, liked his TV show, but I really did not find that UP PERISCOPE nearly as funny as many others do.

We would always carry out the string trick for a new class of part III trainees - as early in their seatime as possible. All in the fore-ends and a trip to full diving depth. Good to check for leaks anyway. The string usually broke around the 100 ft mark coming back to pd.

Also styrofoam cup in the superstructure. Turned into a shot glass.
