Stopped in at Havana Central [an excellent Cuban restaurant here in NYC] and there on the menu was Hatuey Beer. Of course I hadda order one for starters and there was the old one-eyed Chief on the label. Taste was pretty good too. Seems some guy in Florida, almost certainly a cuban from the Santiago area, has started making it there.

Anybody else remember that stuff? They usta say that when the old chief got a second eye it was time to quit.

Hell yeah Steve! It was my first liberty outside of the U.S. Just a lad of 19 or so. Good drunk.

The Most may recall this:
As I remember it, we had a beer ball game with another boat in '56, and the COB ordered the same number of cases as was normal at Fleet Park in NorVa. Small problem was that it came in 144 bottle "export" cases instead of 24 bottle cases! Since we couldn't take it back to the boat, the game lasted a lot longer than planned.
