Not sure how many here may be American Legion members but the organization is 100 years old today. March 15, 1919 to March 15, 2019!!!
It all started 100 years ago today when four officers decided to start an organization to help the millions of veterans returning home from World War I. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Legion for full story.

I'm a member of local Post 234 and have been for a number of years.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICAN LEGION!!!

It is very strange to compare how meetings are conducted between USSVI and the Legion. At first to compare the relaxed atmosphere of a USSVI meeting to a Legion meeting formality took me aback but it does work. Not every military service operated at the informal level the submarine service did/does.

It is also the Ides of March. This is the day that Julius Caesar uttered the words, "Et tu, Brute?" (You too, Brutus?) just before he was killed by Roman nobles - including Brutus and Cassius.

Happy Birthday, American Legion!

They indirectly bought my 1st house. But, in my case, the GI Bill got me my Engineering degree which gave me the income to buy the house.
