I recently came across a military record of one of my mother's first cousins. He served on a type of ship I never heard of before: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Luzon_(ARG-2) Internal Combustion Engine Repair ship. Edited by Thomas Courtien 2020-02-15 3:03 PM

Including just plain old AR and ARB for battle damage, ARL for light, etc. ( I spent 4 years on the same skimmer and learned a lot of this stuff. Not enough? Lifted my minesweep out of the water on each WESTPAC deployment. It was a non-self-propelled drydock but had a navy crew and was complete with berthing spaces, a galley and mess decks, diesel engines for electrical power and to power the flooding pumps.

Was supposed to be used for deployments away but very frequently had ships alongside at the main Sydney base - I presume for normal 'internal maintenance' (SMP) routines.
