Interesting story about an American who bought an unopened crate containing a 48-year-old Norton 850 Commando motorcycle. He paid $17500 so it will be revealed what he found inside when he opened it. This is the main video but there are a couple of shorter ones on the same bike on YouTube.

Good God, Mate. What a find.

I've owned 3 "Snortin Norton's". A 1962 600cc Dominator 99, a '64 650cc Manx and an early 70's 750cc Atlas. If we count the "Stray" Norton 350cc Dominator type I never rode, that'll make 4.

On 1 of my visits to Malta, I found a Vincent "Black Shadow" for sale in "The Gut". But I had no way to bring it home on the Sub I was riding (USS Dogfish-SS350). DAMN !!!!

If we add a Triumph 200 Tiger Cub, a 250cc Ducatti Desmo, 650cc Bonneville and a 650cc BSA plus 7 others (360 Cross Husqvarna, 250cc OSSA, 1100cc Suzuki, 750cc Honda, TM 400cc Suzuki, 360 Maico Crescent, 400cc Maico, 350cc Kawasaki and few more I raced).

I suppose it could accurately be said I was once a Cycle Head.

Thank you for this. Good Show !

I started with a Honda 50 in high school, then a BSA 250. Then a Kawasaki 650 that was a go in a straight line rocket, and finally a Yamaha Virago 750 that was a cruiser.  Miss my riding days and the great rides along the California coast.

In the early 70s, every engineman and one sonarman was a biker. Last stop on Westpac was Yokosuka. These guys had planned it a head of time. They all bought their bikes from the Honda factory (550 cc I believe) and had them delivered next day to the pier. they spent the last 2 1/2 days of our in port time on the pier breasking the bikes down. The engine room had engines, handlebars, gas tanks - you name the part. When we got to San Diego they kissed thier wives and spent 2 1/2 days putting them all back rogether. Pissed me off because I was mess cooking at the time and had to serve two duty sections.

Hey Guys,

I really enjoy the stories.
Gil mentioned a straight line Rocket. I didn't mention it but I had a Kawasaki 750 triple 2 stroke that had 2 hinges; the steering crown and another just behind it. Not really but the bike sure made you think it had a 2nd hinge. Another straight line rocket. Man, was that sucker fast. But it was a man killer in the turns.

First bike was a honda 250scrambler, then a 305 honda hawk, moved up to a 350 honda super hawk. Then a 659 yamaha. Then bought a 850 moto guzzi at a police auction in mobile alabama. Loved that bike. Sold it in 97 to a good home
