John Michael Grantham, born December 8, 1960, in Louisiana, passed away on May 6, 2025, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, at the age of 64. With a mind as sharp as a razor and a heart full of innovation, John lived a life that inspired those around him. Throughout his career, John made significant contributions as a contractor for the U.S. Government, working with esteemed organizations such as QED, SAIC Amsec, and EMC. His keen eye for detail and unwavering commitment to quality shone in his role as an inspector for large construction projects around Norfolk and Virginia Beach. John's work left an indelible mark on the community and those who had the pleasure of working alongside him. Michael served in the Navy as a fire control technician on nuclear submarines prior to entering the business world. Michael's passion for technology was boundless. He constantly immersed himself in the latest advancements in technology, engineering, and physics, filling his remarkable photographic memory with a wealth of knowledge. His inventive spirit and industrious mind led him to continuously generate ideas—whether it was dreaming up new business ventures in his youth or crafting ingenious devices to simplify everyday life in his later years. Michael played football at FSU and he traveled the world along with his family while his father was proudly serving in the U.S. Army, with Germany as having his favorite memories while there. A lover of words and puzzles, John found joy in solving crossword puzzles every morning—a testament to his love for mental challenges and lifelong learning. He enjoyed his pets very much, cats mostly, a couple dogs in life, and at least one wild squirrel he befriended. Michael is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Judith Elizabeth, and his brother, Jeff Grantham. He is survived by his cherished son, John Grantham II, and his dear brother, Bo Grantham. Michael Grantham's legacy is one of creativity, intellectual curiosity, and a profound dedication to improving the world around him. He will be remembered fondly and missed deeply by all who knew him. | ||
