Facebook page where their members who have gone on “Eternal Patrol” are noted. I’ll keep my work here going, trying to get others who were not USSVI members. You’re encouraged to look there as well as here! Obviously, there’ll be some I miss and some I duplicate. BROWN .. .. .. Raymond Brown, 95, of Manchester, passed away on October 10, 2025, at his home surrounded by his children. Born on November 7, 1929, in Manchester, he was the devoted husband of the late Karole King Brown for 72 years and the loving father of David Brown and Donna Brown. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Carleen Brown, and grandchildren Philip Brown, Eric Brown, Kathryn Koch, and Meaghan Koch. Ray received both undergraduate and graduate degrees in education from UCONN, and he was an elementary school principal for most of his professional career in the East Hartford school system. Ray also served from 1949 until 1952 in the US Navy Submarine Service and was a DAV. Ray’s passion in life was working with antique clocks, and he was well known for his clock collection and repair services throughout the Northeast. A burial service will be held on November 13 at 11AM at East Cemetery in Manchester. SAFRANS .. .. .. It is with deep respect and heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Gerald Safrans, age 80, who left this world on November 24, 2025. A proud veteran of the Navy, Jerry served his country with honor, courage, and steadfast dedication. During his years of service, Jerry exemplified the values of duty, integrity, and sacrifice. Whether through acts known or quiet contributions never recorded, he helped protect the freedom and safety of others, leaving a legacy of service that will not be forgotten. He proudly served in the Vietnam War. Jerry left home as a young teenager. Fortunately the navy provided him an education and career. He served for 33 years on both ships and submarines. He would still be on those submarines if the Navy hadn’t made him retire. Jerry and Colleen spent many of their retirement years as snow birds in Wickenburg, Arizona enjoying riding side by sides and playing card games with great friends. Jerry was cherished as a father, husband, grandfather, and friends, remembered for his kindness and the way he touched the lives of those around him. Jerry is survived by his wife Colleen of 16 years and children Jana Evens (Jason), Phillip Safrans, Paul Neumann (Anne), John Safrans (Tanya), James Safrans, and Carolyn Johnson. Step children Shellie Cline, Stacy Farley (Justin), Clint Poulsen, and numerous grandchildren will forever carry their love and guidance in their hearts. He is preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Gail, Evelyn and Judy. | ||
