I’ll keep my work here going, trying to get others who were not USSVI members. You’re encouraged to look there as well as here! Obviously, there’ll be some I miss and some I duplicate. 

SHEA .. .. .. Daniel Joseph Shea, Esq., 82, passed away at home in Houston on Sunday, April 19, 2026, following a long and complicated illness. Born in Providence, Rhode Island on December 21, 1943, he was the son of the late Daniel J. Shea, Sr. and Antoinette L. (Remillard) Shea. After attending high school in Providence, Dan joined the US Navy, entering the Nuclear Submarine Service where he rose through the ranks to become a nuclear reactor operator. Following discharge, he attended Boston College and later was employed for a number of years in a variety of positions in the nuclear power industry in the southeast. Following his heart, Dan eventually moved to Europe to attend seminary at the Catholic University in Louvain, Belgium where he was ordained a Deacon. He unexpectedly returned to Rhode Island following the untimely death of his sister and ultimately left the church to again consult in the nuclear industry in Houston Dan began to practice law in 1990 after graduating from the South Texas College of Law. The major focus of his practice over the years was defending victims of sexual abuse in the Catholic Church, often in a very frank and intense manner. His Louvain theological education was of great benefit to him in representing his clients. Dan was the brother of Gaele S. Anderson of Fayetteville, GA, and the late Eileen P. Payne. In addition to his sister, he is survived by numerous nephews, nieces, grand-nephews, grand-nieces and cousins and several close friends and professional colleagues.

ATWATER .. .. .. Robert (Bob) B. Atwater, 86, passed away peacefully at home on May 16, 2026 surrounded by his loving family.
After earning his mechanical engineering degree from Iowa State University, Bob served his country with honor in the United States Navy as a senior Lieutenant aboard the nuclear submarine, Abraham Lincoln, SSBN 602, during the Vietnam War. His military service reflected the strength, dedication, and quiet commitment that marked his life.
After the Navy, Bob worked for a public utility in Michigan as an engineer and fuel buyer. He moved his family to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to lead the marketing department for Consolidation Coal Company and cheer on his Steelers. He retired at 55 and spent the next 27 years perfecting his woodworking, making almost anything his family desired. He also built or refurbished six beautiful wooden boats of various sizes and speeds.
Bob spent a thankful 28 years as a member of the Gratitude Group in Clemson, South Carolina.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Carol Atwater; his daughter, Amy Atwater Braswell and her husband, Rob, of Marietta, Georgia; and his son, Jeffrey Scott Atwater and his wife, Tracey, of Atlanta, Georgia. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Nathan Braswell and his wife, Ana; Jessica Braswell
Osinubi and her husband, Dipo; Everett Atwater; and Katie Atwater; as well as his cherished great grandchildren, Zoë Osinubi, Ian Osinubi, and Sofia Fomin-Braswell.
Bob will be remembered with love for his devotion to family, his distinguished military service, and the lasting impact he made on those who knew him.
