Subject: Russian Navy visit to Venezula

Chavez announced that the Russian Navy and his navy will hold joint ops sometime late in 2008, same announcement comes from Moscow. Russian ships include the nuclear powered cruiser, Peter the Great , Russia's newest destroyer, a fleet oiler
and a fourth ship, as yet unnamed...probably a seagoing fleet tug.....A number of Russian ASW aircraft will operate from Venezulan airfields during the "fleet" joint ops. The exercise is aimed at no third country according to Moscow.......Hmmmm,
seems like tit for tat for USN Black Sea ops......We ought to thank the Russians for supplying a number of real live targets for the US subs who'll be sure to monitor these ops......

I would imagine that they haven't named ALL of the ships they will send and you can bet they will be shadowed by their own submarines.

Hmmmmm... seems like this is about the time of year we kick off UNITUS cruise to SA. Wonder if this has got something to do with it???

We better check our sattalite flights over Chaves pretty close....Don't want another Cuban-style missle crises!!

My third comment is, is this Puten's way of getting back at us for sailing into the Black Sea to help Georgia??
