This is my first post to this forum...have been reading the sea stories for some time. I just finished a good read that I thought I would pass on. "Submarine Stories-Recolloction from the Diesel Boats". Edited by Paul Stillwell. Series of short stories from the diesel boat era. Especially enjoyed story of the Regulas boats during the Cuban crisis as I was aboard the Barbero(ssg 317) sitting off the Siberian coast at that time.

Happy hoidays to all you DFB'ers.

Wecome aboard, Carl!! Drop down the after battery hatch, grab a cup of black and bitter, give your orders to the Yoe, and stow yer seabag in the goat locker. You will find plenty of old stove-up DBF'ers aboard this sand-box.
BTW, what part of Oregon are you in? I used to live in The Dalles.

Come on down and make yourself at home. It's a little quiet around here right now, but after the Holidays we should be back to what we call normal. The rest of the world calls it kayous or something very similar.

Steamboat,
I am currently in Shedd, a small town about 15 miles south of Albany. I am a part time ranger with the oregon state parks. We are full time rvers, but this year, due to the ecomonic uncertainty and high diesel prices earlier in the year we decided to hunker down for a spell to see what was going to happen. Normally we would be south somewhere by now. Interesting that you should mention The Dalles...lived in Goldendale,WA for many years, leaving in 1985. Worked at the alum. plants until they closed.
Thanks for the welcome.
