| Plankowner Posts: 5024 Location: Gulfport, MS | Subject: Obit Messenger results for 06/08/09 - (The Birmingham News)BURLESON, William Morris, 83, of Hoover, AL passed away Sunday, June 7, 2009. He was born in Hackleburg, Alabama on February 6, 1926 to parents Mary Eta and William Joseph Burleson. Following submarine service during WWII [Plunger, Piper, Torsk], Mr. Burleson attended Auburn University, receiving honors in electrical engineering. He retired from Alabama Power after 40 years of service. Mr. Burleson was a member of Riverchase Church of Christ, where he had many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Glover and Otis Burleson; and two sisters, Angie Freeman and Mona Howell. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Catherine S. Burleson; sons, Brent Burleson (Catherine) of Greenville, SC, Bob Burleson of Birmingham, Mike Burleson (Mary Jule) of Montgomery, and Bill Richey; four grandchildren; Kate, Brooks, Paige, and Davis; and sister, Mary Jo of Kansas. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 9, 2009, from 12:00-1:30 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home on Hwy 150 in Hoover. Funeral service will follow at 1:30 PM in the funeral home chapel, Dwayne Spivey officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. | ||
