Memorial service 2PM Wed. 6/17 at HOPE CHURCH, 7910 15th St., Oakdale, MN. Visitation 1 hour prior. Memorials preferred to the Red Cross, Cancer Society, and Allina Hospice. - (The News Virginian) BLAIR, Charles S. "Bubbi", 82, of Waynesboro, Virginia, departed this life Saturday, June 13, 2009, at his residence. He was born February 14, 1927, in Waynesboro, Virginia, a son of Percy W. and Annie (Mickens) Blair. He graduated from Rosen-wald High School and served honorably in the United States Navy, retiring after 25 years of service. A veteran of World War II, he served aboard the USS Triton, the first submarine to travel under water around the world. He also had a career working for Dupont in the Orlon Finishing Department. He held dual memberships at St. James Baptist Church and Union Baptist Church in Waynesboro, Virginia. He was a member and treasurer of the Waynesboro Union Male Chorus. He played baseball with the Dupont Gray's and was an avid golfer and fisherman. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Evelyn L. Blair, on March 27, 1993. He is survived by one daughter, Scharlene Dunn and her husband, Jack, of Waynesboro, Virginia; one son, Charles E. Blair of Waynesboro, Virginia; one sister, Agnes McCarthy and her husband, Henry, of Hampton, Virginia; one granddaughter, Kimberly Cade and her husband, Damon, of Waynesboro, Virginia; two special nieces, Joann Ecoe and her husband, Ernest, and Elizabeth Perry and her husband, Eugene, of Waynesboro, Virginia; a very special friend, Edna Parks Lee of Waynesboro, Virginia; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A service celebrating his life will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at St. James Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Waynesboro, Virginia. There will be no public viewing. The family will receive friends at the home of Jack and Scharlene Dunn, 108 Light- horse Lane, Waynesboro, Virginia.
