| Plankowner Posts: 5024 Location: Gulfport, MS | Subject: Obit Messenger results for 10/24/09. - (The Washington Post) Bradford S. Granum, CAPT, USN, Ret., of Williamsburg, VA, died June 20, 2009 of kidney failure at Sentara Hospital, Williamsburg, VA with his wife, Mrs. Rene Granum, and her daughter at his side. Captain Granum graduated from the USNA, Annapolis, MD, with the Class of 1951 and joined the Submarine Service. He held various sea and land assignments. He was the Executive Officer of the Navy Submarine School, New London, CT, and was a graduate of the Naval War College. He was a life member of the USNA Alumni Association, Naval Submarine League, Navy League of the U.S. and the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA). After retirement, he was one of four founders of Quadelta, Inc., a test and evaluation company that contracts with defense and civilian firms. He was the first President and served in a variety of positions until he became Chairman Emeritus, which he held until his death. He was involved in the founding of the non-profit International Test and Evaluation Association (ITEA) whose mission is to advance the field of test and evaluation worldwide. He served as third President and was the first recipient to receive the Board of Director''s Award. He assisted with forming the George Washington Chapter of ITEA and served as the Chapter Secretary and Treasurer. In 2002, he founded, with several others, the Colonial Area Republican''s Men''s Association (CARMA) in Williamsburg, the first in VA, receiving considerable recognition from the State Party. He served as Vice President and Editor of the newsletter, naming it the Colonial Crier. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Hampton Roads Ship Model Society, Ford''s Colony Country Club, and the Army Navy Country Club. He enjoyed reading, playing bridge, golfing, and ship modeling. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Rene Granum, North Bethesda, MD, three daughters from his first wife: Caroline Sullivan, Marcy Garnett (husband Brooke), Ann Granum, and by grandsons Jeremy and Jonathan Sullivan, brother Roger Granum, nieces and cousins. Preceded in death by his parents, Ethel and Alfred Granum. His marriages to Martha Smith Granum and Jean Swensen Granum ended in divorce. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 29, 2009, 11 a.m. at Arlington National Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
