Subject: Obit Messenger results for 06/24/07

URBAN, Jr., R. Lamay, CDR, USN, Ret., 73, passed away Thursday June 14, 2007 at his home in Camp Hill, PA. He was a graduate of West Catholic High School, Philadelphia; U.S. Naval Academy (Class of 57), Submarine School, New London, CT; U.S. Naval Post Graduate School, Monterey, CA; and George Washington University. He served in active duty in the U.S. Navy for 20 years. His primary function was as a submarine engineering duty officer. Following his retirement from the Navy in 1977, he joined Catalytic Engineering and Construction Company, where he was Project Manager at Three Mile Island. In 1980, he was reassigned to the Catalytic's home office in Philadelphia and worked with them and it's successor organization in the nuclear field in the U.S. and Mexico. He retired from the industrial field in 1997 and was heavily involved with church and volunteer work in Camp Hill and Harrisburg. He taught English as a 2nd language through Catholic Charities of Harrisburg and the Center for Educational and Economic Development. He was an active member of The Church of the Good Shepherd, serving as an eucharistic minister and lector. He was preceded in death by his son, Urban R. III. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Kathleen; 2 sons, Kenneth of Chesapeake, VA and Gregory of Naples, FL; 4 daughters, Barbara of Greenfield, MA, Maria of Mesa, AZ, Denise Juliana of West Chester, PA and Anne-Marie Crossan of Newark, DE; a brother, Daniel Lamay of Feasterville, PA; 3 sisters, Patricia Brown of Ashville, NC, Marie Pinto of Carlisle and Constance Fohner of Warrington, PA; 12 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Monday from his church. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Mechanicsburg. Viewing will be from 6-8 p.m., Sunday at the Myers-Harner Funeral Home, Camp Hill and Monday from 9-10: 45 a.m., at his church. Prayer service will be Sunday evening at 7 p.m., from the funeral home.
