At random: During their wartime operations submarines have engaged in some unusual maritime actions. One undersea craft slugged it out with the infantry and field artillery while other submarines destroyed a zeppelin, a bus, and a railroad train.

Subject: The Great Wall of China.....

was simply, 'amazing'!

We walked a 4km (2.4 mile ) approximately, section of The great Wall at Ba Da Ling, took us a few hours - not that we were rushing at all....but what a walk. The hills are extremely steep, some sections have steps, some dont. I measured my heart rate at the half way mark and it was at 150BPM. My legs 'wobbled' whjen we stopped at the end of that section and I could feel my legs for the next few days.

The view was somewhat diminished by the smog which just blankets Beijing and the surrounding areas, but, that will not detract from this wonderful experience, I recommend it to you all....people of all ages completed the walk.

I am in the process of posting pictures in my Webshots website for you to look at for those interested. I shall post more when I am free to do so.

Pretty steep climb.

"Paul on the wall" looked a tad red faced.

Great pictures, Mate. Kathy looks great and it appears she can handle the steps too.

I thought we had raised enough for them to keep you there. Shows you that bribery just isn't what it used to be. Hope you enjoyed all aspects of the trip, and you continue to do so during the entire visit.

LOL....The tour guide seemed quite stunned when I replied with "to keep the rabbits out" when she asked us "do you know why the wall was built"....so of course I explained the tv commercial for her. She is a very attractive 22 year old and weighed as much as a wet handkerchief. ( I am guessing! )
