I am always in awe of how we built the fleet that won WWII in a couple of short years.

Then after the war we built new super carriers one right after the other.

Later we built 41 Polaris submarines, that actually worked, in about 10 years.

Sometimes I wonder if there is just too many gizmos and whiz bangs - we only need to stay one step ahead of the bad guys with our innovations.
