At random: During their wartime operations submarines have engaged in some unusual maritime actions. One undersea craft slugged it out with the infantry and field artillery while other submarines destroyed a zeppelin, a bus, and a railroad train.

Uss Von Steuben SSBN 632 had fairwater guards, the only sub to have them I was told. This was because of the Rota incident where a tow cable from a tug and salvaged ship was allowed to loop down and caught in the fairwaters. Von S surfaced into the towed salvaged ship and had the highest peace time tonnage for a while due to several other ships being cut up and put on the salvaged ship to be towed to destination. They found Von S at fault several years later. What other boats had a one of a kind modification, and why?

The Teddy Roosevelt (SSBN600) had a pregnant sail. There was a large sonar array dome located on the aft part of the sail. It was these to supposedly check behind the boat should another sub try to hide in the baffles. It was subsequently removed during the boats first overhaul. It was unique to the 600. I also think being the only boat with such an obvious give away in Holy Loch her secrecy was lost as to operations. As if everyone from Dunoon to Glasgow didn't know who was where at any given time.
