The article says the Task Force includes one or two fast attack boats.
Any ideas how they are used? Screen the carrier? Intelligence gathering? Hunt for other subs? Or all of the above?

Isn't this one of those questions that if we answered it we would have to kill you so you could never state your source? Or could we just read about it in our free press, or Jame's? That way no body dies. |

Back in my day we had this thing called the silent service. |

Asking questions about what the boats do today is fruitless. We do not have anybody who is currently active or recently discharged here. The closest one retired some 15 years ago.
All you will get are the comments of what was done decades ago. |

Not that valuable lessons learnt in the past of the U.S. Submarine Service will be discarded or ignored, but I'm confident the new kids on the block will have a more than a few operational tricks of their own up their sleeves. I would think the protection of the carrier groups would be their primary objective, but their other clandestine applications are myriad and shrouded in secrecy as they should be. The fat slob with the bad haircut has painted himself into a corner that is rapidly shrinking and reducing any rational options he could take. My thoughts and prayers are with those ships, boats and their crews out there, trusting they will find the right solutions to a highly volatile situation.

Yep, Pedro, well said. What saddens me most is over 60 million people who call the nation I love home, watched an imbecile millionaire preach nonsense and happily boarded his ship, destined to take away rights and freedoms of others. BTW, Putin ain't that fat or hairy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rW9R6jgE7SQ

Generally used to have one boat for advanced screening and that boat rarely came into port with the rest of the battle group. Second boat can now be used for other tasks. |

I'm so happy no one answered this question on-line. Maybe there is still hope... |

Gary - from what we see and read here and most of the media is very selective in what gets to the population, President Trump appears to be letting the Military run the Military. No 5 o'clock Whitehouse news on what platoon X is doing in Iraq or Afghanistan that we used to get. |
