At random: A typical modern submarine may require as many as 2,000 working drawings for the more than 7,000,000 items used in its construction. Blueprints from these drawings if placed end to end would make a strip 250 miles long.

...looks like I can get the cataracts in my left eye fixed real soon. Be nice to see "normal" again.

With your eyes fixed, what you see in the mirror might scare you.

Looking in the mirror won't be bad. He doesn't cast a reflection.

Are you going to have it done on both eyes?  A friend had it done in Mexico, and they did both eyes at the same time, I think in the Estados Unidos we do one eye at a time.

Good luck Ric,

Glad to hear that you are getting this done so that you will be able to see with two eyes again

Had one eye done about 8 years ago and experienced a major improvement. But now my other eye is about due as my night driving is being affected again.

Apparently so. I had one done. couple weeks later, the other. Same deal with the wife.
So glad to have gotten it done. I saw stuff while still on the gurney that I hadn't seen in years.
At 82. I still have an unrestricted driver's license thanks to the surgery.

How long does the procedure take, and are your eyes blurry for a week after.

I don't think my eyes are good, but my doctor says they are for my age(72).  Over a year ago I was having and eye exam and there was some blood in my eye because of blood vessels behind the eye experiencing tiny hemorrhaging - I think diabetics know this is common.  I got sent immediately to an eye doctor, and he recommended laser zapping.  He also said I had cataracts.  Dummy me, I assumed the best - He'd seal the leaking vessels with the laser and I'd have cataract surgery and see 20/20 or better again.   Wrong - my doctor zapped the leaking blood vessels, and explained  everybody has some cataracts (I assume geezers), but he couldn't recommend cataract surgery yet.  I'm guessing the translation is my provider (Kaiser) won't pay for it until it gets worse.

The whole thing, pre-op, surgery, post-op should take about two hours MAX. surgery takes about 10 to 20 minutes. You're awake the whole time but with a little "nerve tonic" to help you out. You need to be awake enough to give some feedback to the doctor.
Do it, you won't regret it.

According to my eye doc, you need to wait until the cataracts are "ripe" before having the surgery. If done too soon, they will come right back. I waited 3 years before he said "It's time". That was 9 years ago, and no problems since.

When you look through the eye and everything is fuzzy, it is time!

Our procedures (wife and I) both consisted of them fabricating a plastic lens to suit the preference of near or far vision or a happy medium.
During the 20 minute (max) operation. The incision was made in the side of the eyeball, The old e old cloudy lens sucked out and then the folded new lens was inserted and unfolded. (local anesthetic only). Doc. issued an eye patch to wear to keep you from rubbing the eye for a day or so.
No pain. no problem. And nothing blurry afterward since you are now using the new lens.
wife nearly blows 'em away by whipping off her glasses to sign a charge transaction or read a menu. She apparently opted for the near' edition of the new lens. She wears glasses for distance , tTV and about everything except reading.
End of story except to yak about having a wonderful ability to see.
The whole thing was called an ocular implant.
I would recommend our surgeon but he has retired.
Good luck and go for it.
