Story has short video about the current FBMs which I found interesting.

How do they select these officers who seemed to get relieved shortly after assuming command? It seems to me the selection process is a problem here. The investigation should look at the process and see where the deficiency exist in selection.

Another point, and I assume that there are internal memos regarding why some highly trained officers are being replaced. It seems that when the Navy invests a million or so dollars preparing an officer for command that someone without the technical or personal skills would be sidetracked to alternative slots.

Gone are the days when a sub CO was the head magilla and the squadron was their only to give him their orders, and send him out to keep an eye or two on the enemy.

Now all those many, many, desk bound admirals want their 1 cents worth of advice to be from the gods, with nothing better to do than embarrass CO"S. When in the long run,(my opinion) they embarrass themselves with their petty demands.

Now this guy may have done something pretty seriously wrong, on the other hand may have pissed off some desk jockies wife...

Usetowas a guy could get a couple of CO billets before he was up (in rank) or out. Now it is one command then you are up or out. Officers only have one chance at being CO. In the real old days CO were junior officers and got be be CO and then were transferred to sea on a tender or shore stations and back into a junior billets before being given command again. Straightened out lots of flaws. No chance for that now. One command and your done.

Why can't they get a game show host to do it, seems to be the only smart option. Are the new boats coal powered, that would be yuge. Does you're and your mean the same thing?

I don't know, Maybe because Admiral Rickover isn't putting the Hymie stamp on them anymore?

Years back, when we were regular visitors to PH, our associate SSN or DBF colleagues told us the route to command depended on the reports as Engineer. Knowing how to fight or command was a lower requirement than engineering proficiency. Have there been changes?

They do get a shot at major (O6) command such as AS or SSGN but obviously there aren't a lot of billets.

Admiral Nelson was married but was a ladies man, and he apparently drove his mistress, Lady Hamilton, wild, but he was still a British national naval hero. So what is the big deal that this submarine Commander allegedly had an extra marital relationship going on? When you consider that past CIC's of the USA military, like Eisenhower, Kennedy and Clinton, all had adulterous relationships outside their marriages, did it really detract them from the job they were doing? Double standards are being applied here and this is not a good thing for the future of the armed forces and their leadership be it male or female.

Being a sub commander is a precarious position indeed in these times'
