KERNER, Frank George, of Auburn, Nebraska, died suddenly on June 28, 2017. Frank was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on May 9, 1966. He graduated from Parkway North High School in 1984. Frank enlisted in the United States Navy, Submarine Service, in 1985, and served for almost 22 years. He retired as a Machinist Mate Chief (SS) in 2007, after serving at sea on four submarines: USS Stonewall Jackson, USS Sand Lance, USS Nevada, and USS Albuquerque. During these years he also earned a Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Physics and Nuclear Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Following his Navy service, he was employed at Cooper Nuclear Station in Brownville, Nebraska as a system engineer and in quality assurance. Frank was a member of the National Rifle Association and the U.S. Parachute Association. He was a licensed pilot, certified in scuba diving, and had a keen interest in astronomy and astrophotography. Frank was a skilled metal and wood worker, with an extensive collection of hand and machine tools which he frequently used to help friends and neighbors who needed repairs made or parts manufactured. Frank is survived by his son Brad (Emily) Dake of Cuba, MO; grandchildren Gavin & Emily Dake ; father Frank Walter (Carol) Kerner of St. Charles, MO; mother Nancy Vaughn of Cuba, MO; 3 step-sisters Renee Collins of San Ramon, CA, Lisa Hopp of O?Fallon, MO, Teri Isom of St. Louis County, MO; other relatives and many friends. He also leaves his dog and constant companion, Marley. He was preceded in death by step-father Don Vaughn, and his grandparents Frank H. (Louise) Kerner and George (Virginia) Akers. Services: A memorial visitation was held on July 16 at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn. A Committal service with full military honors will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery on Aug. 23 at 11:00am. A celebration of Frank's life will be announced at a later date. BENNETT, Robert Francis, 76, died peacefully at home on August 15 after a long period of declining health. Bob was born in 1940, the son of Anne (Blaszek) and William Moffit Bennett. He lived with his family in various Midwest locations. finally settling in Salem, Ohio where he graduated from high school. Bob went on to attend the University of Wisconsin, Madison, on a naval scholarship where he graduated with a BS in Naval Science. After graduation, he spent four years on active duty during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Submarine Service on the USS Spinax out of San Diego, followed by 20 years in the Naval Reserve, retiring as a Commander, USNR. After the Navy, Bob came East to Hartford, CT, where he worked for 25 years at The Travelers in Information Technology/Data Processing, early on earning an MS in Computer Science from Rennslear Polytechnic Institute. He retired in 1990 as a Second Vice President. After retirement, he moved to Marion MA with his beloved wife, Joanna (Makepeace), where this past February they celebrated 25 years of marriage. Bob served on the Marion Planning Board, after which he devoted many years to his two great interests, boating (both sailing and power boating) and golf. He loved his time with his family and friends and traveling with Joanna to many destinations, including China, Southeast Asia, Kenya, Peru, Italy and sailing in the Greek Isles. The two loved their annual winter trips to the Caribbean. In addition to his wife, Joanna (Makepeace) Bennett; Bob leaves two sons, John Scott Bennett of Milwaukee, WI and his wife Julie, and his children Connor and Sophia, and Eric Bennett of Wayland MA and his wife Amy, and children John Robert and Abigail. In addition, he leaves his wifes children, Liza Siwinski and her husband Bob, her children Ben and Nick Snow; and Chris Severance and his wife Claire and children Eleanor and William. He also leaves his brother William Bennett of Naples, FL. Bob was a member of Kittansett Club, Beverly Yacht Club, and the Bay Club at Mattapoisett. A memorial gathering will be held at 12 Noon on Friday, September 1, for friends and family at the Kittanset Club, 11 Point Road, Marion. Burial will be private. KIRK, David B., Sr., 94, of Whiting, formerly of Medford Lakes passed away on Aug. 16, 2017. David served proudly in the Navy during WWII on the submarine USS Tilefish (SS-307). Following the war, he attended the University of Rochester on the GI Bill. He then went to work for various places before beginning his career at General Electric that lasted over 30 years. After retirement, he chose to become a realtor that he enjoyed doing for several years. David is the loving husband of Marilyn. He is also survived by his children, Karen (Vince) Lowry of Medford, David, Jr. (Ellen) of Lumberton, Diane (Dan) Cook of Lynnfield, MA and Steven (Carrie) of Cherry Hill, 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held on Wednesday August 23rd from 8:30am to 10:30am at the Lechner Funeral Home 24 N. Main St. Medford, NJ 08055. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:15am at the St. Mary of the Lakes Church, 40 Jackson Rd. Medford, NJ. Internment will take place at Jesus Bread of Life Catholic Cemetery, Mt Laurel, NJ. McGOVERN Mark Robert, died Friday, August 11, 2017, in Chicago, IL. He was born on December 18, 1963 in Oak Park, Illinois to Robert and Jane (nee Butler) McGovern. Mark was a University of Notre Dame graduate; he served as a naval lieutenant on the nuclear submarine USS Will Rogers; and received his law degree from George Mason University. He worked for the Illinois Department of Employment Services for over 10 years. Mark is survived by his siblings, Gregory McGovern, Claudia (Michael) Venhuizen, and Paul McGovern; nieces and nephew, Matthew, Erin and Mallory McGovern; and Robert McGovern's life partner Nancy Gramarosso. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation from 9:00 am until time of Funeral Mass, 11:00 am, Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at St. Edna Catholic Church, 2525 N.
