I know, I am cheap. I won't pay the extra for a vanity plate every year. My 24" chrome Dolphins on the Subaru, and my three foot decal dolphins on the tailgate of the Ridgeline say what I want said. Aside from that I don't like some of the decisions the censors have made lately with regard to Confederate Heritage plates. |

My NY vanity plates, which you pay for once and only once, bear the Sub Vets loge, the bottom line "Silent Service" and my plate # SS422.

I know it's expensive here in Delaware. Extra $40/year but I do like mine with SSBN599 along with the sub vet frame. I've been asked about the Patrick Henry and have had a lot of honks and waves on the highways. |

No vanity plate but a custom plate frame that says "US Navy Submariner" on top and "USS Flasher SSN 613" on the bottom. |

Here in California you are not allowed to have vanity plates and handicap license plates. Instead you get the handicap placards that can hang from the old fashioned rear view mirrors. |

Sorry Gil, California HAS "Personalized" plates. See them advertised at the DMV. There are also Pearl Harbor Survivor plates, Purple Heart plates, firefighter plates, POW plates, MOH plates, and a bunch of others.
There ARE handicapped plates cause they can't be "borrowed" by a spouse or brother-in-law, but they also have the blue plastic mirror hanger handicapped tag.
Go to: http://www.dmv.org/ca-california/special-license-plates.php to see what they offer.

I think what he was saying was you couldn't get personalized handicap plates. If you have one you can't have the other. |

I have my boat number in reverse 524 SS on my car as somebody has SS 524. i also have submarine service and Vietnam on the California license plates. However I cannot get the permanent handicapped plates combined with my current plates. Instead I get the placard that hangs. They told me a few years ago that I can't have personalized plates combined with handicap plates.
