CHASE, Harry Burnham, Jr., 99, formerly of Old Orchard Beach and Westbrook passed away Saturday Sept. 16, 2017 at the Gorham House. He was born in Westbrook, Aug. 24, 1918, the son of Harry and Calanthe Sylvester Chase. Harry attended Westbrook schools. At Forest Street School, he was the Co-Captain of the basketball team. While in the Boy Scouts, he played in the drum and bugle corps during summer camp at Highland Lake. Through high school, he played hockey and belonged to the Pastime Club, graduating in 1936. He later served in the US Navy during World War II in the submarine service [CSD-42, AT&RC#2, CSD-103]. After his service to his country, he worked at the shipyard for several years before working in the family plumbing business. Harry worked in the family business, H. B. Chase, until he retired at the age of 83. Harry was a member of the Westbrook Warren Congregational Church and enjoyed spending time with his family at Highland Lake and later at Sebago Lake Campground. Harry was predeceased by his wife, Sally Chase, on 2/4/2010. Survivors include a son Gerald "Wayne" Chase of Westbrook, a daughter Geraldine Carr of New Oxford, Pa.., a stepson John Roberge and wife Lianne of Cliffside Park, N.J., a stepdaughter Susan Michaud- Bosse and husband Don of Mechanic Falls; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. GREENWALD, Elmer Stanley, 98, was born on November 22, 1918 and passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2017. Elmer was a resident of Chelsea, North Carolina at the time of passing. Elmer served in the submarine USS Trutta (SS-421) in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Funeral services are pending at this time. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Stockbridge. La ROSA, Salvatore G., 72 of San Jose, CA, passed away after a long struggle with cancer on September 6, 2017, surrounded by family. Born July 24, 1945, in Forest Park, Illinois, to Salvatore and Erma La Rosa, Sal was the youngest of three children. Lovingly referred to as the Mayor of Chatham Court, AKA "Salty Sal", he is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sharon La Rosa and four children; Son, Salvatore (Rose), and daughters, Sarah (Dustin), Laurie (Mark), and Lisa (Jon), as well as many grandchildren. Sal Loved the ocean and spent four years in the United States Navy, serving on the submarine USS Simon Bolivar. His life and accomplishments were many. Services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery on September 24th at 11:00am. Please join the family in celebrating Sal's life at the LLS Light the Night event at AVAYA Stadium on Oct. 14th. LaROSE, Joseph Philip, III, MMCM(SS), USN, Ret., of Summerville, SC, passed away in the early morning hours on Saturday, September 16, 2017 with his family by his side. He was born on May 8, 1940 in New London, CT, to Joseph Philip LaRose II and June Havens LaRose. He honorably & proudly served for 24 years in the United States Navy, the majority of those years were spent in submarine service. Post-military, his years were spent continuing his education, obtaining several college degrees (Associates and technical), working for several local firms, finally retiring again as Warranty Manager for Sunburst Properties. Mr. Joe is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ann; daughter Kelly Hill (James), of St. Stephen; sister June Nunes (Bob), of Groton, CT, two grandchildren; special brother-in-law: Bob Spears (Carole). He was sadly predeceased by his son: Joseph P. LaRose, IV and sister: Yvonne Ackley. Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation from 1 to 3 o'clock on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at James A. Dyal Funeral Home followed by his funeral service at 3 o'clock at James A. MORRISON, Kenneth E., 66, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, passed away on September 2, 2017. He was born on November 26, 1950, in Portales, NM, to Vernon and Edna Morrison. He graduated from Portales High School in 1968. He joined the Navy in 1970, serving on the submarine USS Wahoo in Vietnam. After his discharge in 1974 he moved to Roswell, NM, to attend refrigeration school. In January 1975, he married Sherry Adams. He worked air conditioning and refrigeration in Las Cruces and El Paso, and moved to Roswell in 1979 to preach full time for North Richardson church of Christ. In 1986, they moved to Portales so Ken could pursue a degree in Communication Disorders at Eastern New Mexico University. In November of 1987 he began preaching full-time for University Drive church of Christ. In 1987, he received a double Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Speech Pathology, and in 1989 earned his Master’s degree in Communication Disorders. He worked as a speech therapist for Clovis Municipal Schools from 1989 to 1996; he worked for Texico Municipal Schools from 1996 to 2010, and continued preaching part-time. He retired in 2010. In 2012 he moved to Lawrenceville, GA. He is survived by his wife, Sherry of the home; son, Ben Morrison and wife Audrey of Boise, ID; son, Adam Morrison and wife Stephanie of Lawrenceville, GA; and daughter, Brandy Morrison of the home; five grandchildren, Bailee and Morgan Morrison of Boise; Logan, Kelsey and Ian Morrison of Lawrenceville; his mother, Edna Morrison of Portales; two sisters, Letha Fink of Idaho Springs, CO, and Dona Skinner and husband Jon of Portales. He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Morrison, and one sister, Alta Rendon. He is buried in Georgia National Cemetery. Published in the Eastern New Mexico News on Sept. 20, 2017


PALMER, Richard Thomas, 87, of Vero Beach, FL, passed away Monday, September 18, 2017 at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach. Richard was born in Wharton, New Jersey and moved to Vero Beach 29 years ago from Succasunna, New Jersey. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the US Navy as a submariner. Richard had been an Equipment Specialist at Picatinny Arsenal in Morris County, New Jersey before his retirement. He was a member of St. John of the Cross Catholic Church and a longtime member of the Newport Club in Vero Beach. Survivors include his wife Jacquinette Barker Palmer of Vero Beach; daughters Phyllis A. Lopez of El Paso, Texas and Mary Margaret Palmer of Arizona; sister Patricia A. Castle of Pittsford, New York; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Boulevard, Suite 1010, Rockville, Maryland 20852. The family will receive friends 2-4 PM, Thursday, September 21, 2017 at the Strunk Funeral Home in Vero Beach. Mass will be celebrated 2 PM Friday, September 22, 2017 at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach. Interment with military honors will follow at Crestlawn Cemetery in Vero Beach. WEAVER, William M., 93, was born on February 14, 1924 and passed away on Friday, September 15, 2017.. William was a resident of Stratford, Connecticut at the time of passing. Mr. Weaver a WWII Navy Submarine Veteran [Barracuda, Requin, Odax] is survived by his children, William Weaver, Jr., John Weaver, James Weaver, David Weaver, Cindy Lanese and their families. Entombment in St Michael's Cemetery Garden Mausoleum, 2205 Stratford Ave, Stratford.
