Elvis Presley and rock'n'roll are inextricably linked to each other. Yet his first album after leaving the Army, "Elvis is Back" revealed another side of his repertoire. All that time as a kid hanging around Beale Street in Memphis paid off - he learnt the blues. Here he is singing "Reconsider Baby" from that album with its great sax solo by Boots Randolph, Scotty Moore on guitar and Floyd Kramer on piano. Doesn't get much better than that.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the Mississippi, Charlie Rich, the Silver Fox, was doing his own version of the blue-eyed blues with this number.
