At random: "Again I ask, who really are our Hero’s? They are the men who have, since the first day of our great country, left their families and friends and gone to war asking for nothing and giving all." -- Gary Walker

Here at the facility, Veterans Day was celebrated in style. The program for us involved presentation of the Colors, the pledge, then the
playing of the Reagan speech he gave on the occasion some years back,
Then presentation of awards (certificate of appreciation and a lapel pin.
Mail call ( where we were presented with hand artwork by school children and a personalized card from them.
One thing I found interesting was the recitation of the oath we took when being sworn in as there were several civilians present who had never heard it.
Then a meet and greet where we walked down a hallway lined on both sides with civilians who shook hands and extended thanks and appreciation.
Next a prayer by the parish priest, followed by taps.
Following all this was a splendid chicken dinner.
Needless to say, a good time was had by all.
Then again today, all vets got a knitted lap robe and a bag of 'goodies from the American Legion Auxiliary.
