At random: In their history, submarines were called by many names such as 'eel boats', 'plunging boats', 'devil divers', and 'pig boats'. Technically, and by size, the submarine is a ship, but it has been called a boat since its earliest days, and the term is steeped in tradition. Submariners almost invariably call their ships 'boats".

Does anyone here have a VA ID card? IF so, how did you get it? And I don't mean a VA Health ID card.

Try this link which came to my mail box:

http://taskandpurpose.com/the-va-just-dropped-more-details-about-the-new-veteran-id-cards/

There are links in the article which give additional info.

I ignored it because I have the health care card; but, the idea is that you would not have to wave your DD214 around.

In Delaware the DMV gives them out. I think you have to show your DD214 to apply.

Renewed Drivers License took DD214 to prove Honorable discharge status, a just in case decision as I've never needed to prove it before, oh wait, bought a house in the late 70's.

Joe,

I think he's referring to a photo ID from the VA itself. Often I have a hard time, sometimes unsuccessful, in getting my 10% discounts using the DMV ID.

Not!  Take your DD214 to the DMV and get a vet's driver's license.  They may not give them out to "uglies" however....

Really, I read on the VA site that Washington didn't. Just checked and as of Sept1, 2017 they do. I had checked before that. Too bad I didn't know, I just spent all the money and time to get the Enhanced Drivers License last month since my old one was to expire. Ain't cheap. Thanks for the heads up. Oh, by the way check the mirror. You ain't no pretty boy.
