LAWVER, Terry Ray, 64, of Woodbridge VA, passed away Sunday November 12, 2017. He was born on October 8, 1953, in Baltimore, MD, son of dearly departed parents, Mr. and Mrs. Norman E. Lawver of Gettysburg, PA. Terry is survived by his wife, Suzanne Hovey Lawver; children, Renee Dawn Lawver, Richard Reid Hovey, Noelle Fern Hovey, and Glen Reid Hovey Jr.; and siblings, Robert Lawver (deceased), Beverly Burns (deceased), and Charles Lawver. After serving on the U.S. Navy nuclear submarine USS George Bancroft (SSBN-643), Terry earned a degree in journalism and certified as a Stationary Engineer. He worked as the Superintendent of Public Works for the City of Fairfax, retiring in 2016. Terry was an avid alumnus of his submarine group, an artistic fighter plane modeler, and a collector of military fighter pilot helmets and military jet planes. In addition, he loved hunting and target shooting. He was most proud of all of his grandchildren and loved them dearly. Terry has a fervent testimony of God the Eternal Father, His son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost, and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. A viewing will be held at 11 a.m. followed by a service at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, located at 5750 Websters Way, Manassas VA 20112. He will be laid to rest on Monday, November 20 at 2 p.m. in Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Road, Triangle VA. Arrangements are by Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Woodbridge VA. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, individuals make donations to their favorite charity or church.
