CHANDLER, Ernest Eugene, 93, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away peacefully on October 27, 2017. Ernie was born April 14, 1924 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Orval and Dorothy (Cate) Chandler. Ernie was a long time Colorado Springs resident and worked as a union pipefitter for local 58. Ernie was an avid outdoorsman and fell in love with Colorado. Ernie was a WWII Navy submarine veteran proudly serving aboard the USS Cobia (245). He qualified in submarines in 1945 and was F1c(MoMM/SS) when released by the Navy in 1946. Ernie was preceded in death by his wife Judy and survived by his sons: Bob (Raina) Chandler of Heidelberg, Germany, and Jeff (Laura) Chandler of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two grandsons and three granddaughters. Published in The Gazette on Dec. 10, 2017


JOERS, Gerald A., passed away in December 2017. Gerald, born July 22, 1949, was a resident of Wisconsin at the time of passing. Proud veteran of the U.S Navy Submarine Service and passionate volunteer at Discovery World especially for the S/V Dennis Sullivan. Memorial service held Friday December 22, 2017 from 1:00PM to 5:00PM at funeral home. Interment will be held at a later date. In Lieu of flowers, donations to the Huntington's Disease Society of America or Friends of S/V Dennis Sullivan are suggested.
