At random: In World War II the Germans lost 782 submarines, the Japanese lost 130, Great Britan and Commonwealth countries lost 88 subs, Russia lost 110 submarines and the United States lost only 52 submarines. Twenty-three of the Japanese subs lost were victims of the American Submarine Service.

Merry Christmas to all that trespass on this BBS. Don I understand that is the first Christmas snow you folks have had in a decade. Here we will have the temperature tonight, but not the moisture.

Ahhh, yes! It is a White Christmas but no large fields here. Drove home in it last night from the south Tacoma area. Had about 2" then and maybe 4" total now. Just enough to have some fun.
Merry Christmas
Nice photo Don.

Growing up in Detroit, this is pretty special Walt - the dogs love it too.  Still snowing steadily...

Merry Christmas to you Don, your family and all the other Shipmates that sail through here. Thanks also for the work you put into this playground.
Enjoy your snow and keep it there please. It's 55f with sunny skies here in Charleston.

Snow on ground but nothing coming from sky. You are higher in elevation though. Only 360 feet or so here. Keep the snow shovel handy.

Can't account for the Christmas's spent away from home in the service but I really only remember one white Xmas in this area when I was a an eight year-old kid. Today is no exception, just gale force winds and heavy rain , not too cold, but no snow in sight. There was a full house today where I was greatly assisted by female relatives in turning out a festive feast for all 18 guests. At the moment all adults are sleeping off the effects of food and drink. Older grand kids are still watching TV or playing their new computer devices and games while the younger ones are all worn out and tucked up in bed. Peace at last and time for an extra large tot of the really hard stuff. Here is a festive toast to you all and hoping that you all had a good day.

Merry Christmas - we had about 5 inches of snow for Christmas. Everyone stayed so late last night that I was tripping over bodies this AM. Now, everyone is looking for breakfast.

I don't know about that. 84 Inches in the last two weeks. 36 Inches in the last two days and still coming down. Older I get the more I hate it.

93 mega miles of sunshine here. People had to wear special "sun" glasses to keep from getting blinded. We had the sun plows out plowing the sun-drifts, and people were shoveling the sun off their walks. The Girls, lounging around the pool, were wearing special sun-block to keep from being sun-burned, (the poor little creatures all bundled up in their bikinis.) The rest of us had to drink FOG CUTTERS due to our eyes getting all squinty from the barbecue smoke, watching the standing rib roast turning slowly on the rotisserie.

We all have to suffer this intemperate weather in our own way.

Watching morning news a couple of hours ago - 52 inches of snow in many areas that normally receive about 7.

Our Christmas was mild, not uncomfortably humid but a long day. SWMBO and I were up from a little after 0410 and didn't get to bed until 0015. We had hosted the Wollongong Chapter of the Russian Mafia - well, that's what I call them. Day turned out well. Finished the leftover prawns last night. I had bought frozen tailed prawns that I thawed for 12 hours in saltwater to restore the flavour. She of course bought cooked prawns still with heads etc; yours truly spent quite a while after everyone had left cleaning 2 kilos of the things!
Turkey on the Weber was just right, as was glazed ham from the oven. She did the salads, I cooked the meats. Red Wine Vacuum marinated lamb and pork were a little over-cooked but Irina likes her meat DEAD and if it isn't that way, I'm reminded of it for quite a long time.

Plenty of drink - most of which had to be put back under the house. The torn rib cartilage was re-opened and protesting. Damage done about three years ago but I re-open the injury every year and have to wear it for many weeks. Doc laughs at me when I tell her each year what I've done. Really laughed when I told her of the original injury and its a case of enjoy it because there is nothing we can do to hasten the repair.

Now the New Year and we are supposed to be joining the Mafia at a beach house a couple of hours down the coast.
