At random: The Grampus and Pike were commissioned in ceremonies at Mare Island the same day, Thursday, the 28th of May 1903. A young naval officer, Lieutenant Arthur MacArthur III, older brother of General Douglas MacArthur, assumed command for both vessels at the same time.

Jenna, our oldest G'Daughter is on a 2 week art gallery/museum visit to London with some of her classmates from SUNY New Paltz, NY.

I showed her a photo of her 22 y.o. G'Pa when he was in London 10 OCT 1964 and said it would be cool if you could find that spot and have her photo taken there as well.  Sea Robin was in GOSPORT at the time and I had QUALIFIED-SS the first night.  SO the London trip was a celebration and my first liberty wearing DOLPHINS.

Google Maps provided the logistical data, and she, along with a mate did the research & testing.  GREAT JOB JENNA, we are BOTH the same age (22) in these photos.

Paul,

What a unique idea to celebrate your visits to London separated by 54 years and what a smart enterprising young lady Jenna, is to have duplicated the shot for you and the family photo album. Nice one mate.

That is so cool Paul.  And how quickly those years have passed.
That was a good thing your Grandaughter did.
My son went to New Paltz. Never left the NYC area. Now lives in Tuckahoe.

Thanks for posting that.

Sid

I for one find it hard to believe that any of us on this board are old enough to have a Grand Daughter that age. Heck she hardly looks much older than my vision of myself in my addled mind.
