Georgia is going to build a trucks only thruway from Macon to Atlanta. At a cost of 1.3 Billion. First of it's kind in the US. Imagine, a road open only to Commercial Vehicles. No bitching about four wheeler's causing problems. Just other CDL holders. Guess you retired early. |

Retired and enjoying more everyday. I don't miss it for one minute. The traffic is so pathetic theses days. Not just the 4 wheelers but also those 18 wheel wannabe truck drivers.
The truck express lanes would be outstanding especially in the Northeast and West Coast, but, I can hear the 4 wheelers already moaning and groaning.

I thought New Jersey had some trucks only routes. Seem to remember seeing them when doing a project there. |

I just went by the Governor's news release! This isn't a lane, but a dedicated highway. |

You might be thinking of those "truck routes" but they can be used by anyone. There's a Route 9 truck route near Newark Airport for example. |

"I can hear the 4-wheelers already moaning & groaning". Why? I do not dive down there , but in my naïve opinion, I should think that the 4-wheelers would be glad to be shed of the trucks???

It would be great to get some of those trucks off I-75. However, when they feed back in at the ends, it will be a mess. Just like it is now at Macon. It will have two such interchanges, but the other at Atlanta. That stretch is often the longest parking lot in Georgia currently. |
