Subject: 4-12 history

Atlantic 04/12/70: A Soviet November class nuclear-powered submarine sinks in the Atlantic Ocean approximately 300 miles northwest of Spain. On 11April the submarine is sighted dead in the water with personnel on deck trying to rig a tow line to two accompanying Soviet ships. By the morning of 12 April U.S. Navy P-3 patrol planes find only two oil slicks on the surface where the submarine had been, and the submarine is considered lost at sea. The accident is believed to be related to a problem in the nuclear propulsion system. After the sinking Soviet survey vessels reportedly guard the area almost continuously for six months. Thereafter routine patrols are conducted until 1979, after which only occasional visits are made.

4-12-1945 Franklin Roosevelt passed away of cerebral hemorrhage after complaining of acute headache during a portrait painting session with artist Elizabeth Shoumatoff at Warm Springs, Georgia, United States.

4-12-1964 USS Proteus arrived at the US Navy base named Fleet Ballistic Missile Refit Site One at Holy Loch, Scotland, United Kingdom.

I miss a lot, if you know of some history (USN or RN) please add it.
