At random: The first diesel engines built by Electric Boat for submarines were installed (1913) in the USS NAUTILUS and SEAWOLF, namesakes of the first nuclear powered submarines, also built by Electric Boat.

SIMONEAUX, James Philip, departed on Eternal Patrol on Sunday, April 15, 2018, to join his beloved wife Thelma Irma Haney Simoneaux in Eternal Life. They were married for 67 years. He was a native of New Orleans and resided in River Ridge for 66 years. He was the son of the late James and Stephanie "Fannie" Gauthé Simoneaux. James was a graduate of S.J. Peters High School and Jos. A. Maybin School. He was a WWII Navy Veteran, having served on the USS Spearfish (SS-190) and USS Snook (SS-279) and a member of the Submarine Veterans of WWII (New Orleans/River Region Base) and Submarine Veterans, Inc. (Redfish Base). He was a former employee of Philco Distributors and McDonald Sales and Oreck Corp and founding member of St. Matthew the Apostle Church. He is survived by his three daughters, Theresa S. Shurte (Paul), Susan S. Tompkins (David), and Diane Simoneaux; and three grandchildren, James, Taylor and Mallory. Sibling of the late Nathan Simoneaux (Audrey), Fannie Simoneaux, and the late Stephen Simoneaux. Brother-in-law of the late Helen H. Bonnett and Marilyn H. Ferrera.A Funeral Mass was held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 17, 2018. Interment followed in Metairie Cemetery. VINCENT, Donald Murray, was born on March 24, 1935 and passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2018. Donald was a resident of Naples, Florida at the time of passing. After graduating from Mount Saint Michael Academy, he served in the Navy on a submarine off the Florida coast in the 1950s and, once he returned home, graduated from CUNY-City College with a degree in business. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Support Network, 660 Tamiami Trail North, Suite 21, Naples, Florida 34102.
