At random: The USS Cusk was only one of four US submarines to ever receive the Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation - Gallantry for her service in Vietnam. Cusk, was awarded seven awards during 1965, 1967, 1968, and 1969,The other three boats were the USS Sculpin (SSN-590), the USS Razorback (SS-394), two awards during 1967 and 1969, and the USS Ronquil (SS-396), two awards during 1966-67 and 1968.

YINGLING, Harold L., 83, died April 13, 2018. Born December 19, 1934, he was a son of the late Lloyd J. and Phyllis (Motter) Yingling. Red was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Navy's submarine force for four years. After his hitch in the Navy, Red was employed with the Southland Corp., Dallas, TX and managed the ice-cream division branch in Gettysburg covering parts of PA, MD, W.VA, and VA. Red was a member of the Masonic #336 Blue Lodge of Gettysburg, member of Post 202 American Legion, life member of the National American Submariners, Tristate Club of Submarine Veterans Holland Club, and a life member of the Barlow Fire Company. Red, with his wife Betty and sons, Keith and Kevin, were also antique dealers in the Gettysburg and surrounding areas and were nationally known in the industry. Surviving is his wife of 62 years, Betty J. Yingling; two sons, Keith and fiancé, Kami Grim and Kevin Yingling; grandchildren, Owen, Elena, Patience, Charity, Hope, and Faith; and great-grandchildren, Aviana and Autumn, all of the Gettysburg area. Red is also survived by his brother, Larry Yingling of Blair, NE. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Red will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at the Intersection Church, 1980 Baltimore Pike, Gettysburg. The family will receive friends to share memories of Red from 5:30 p.m. until the time of service at the church. TAGMIRE Francis J., 90, formerly of Westmont, NJ, died peacefully on April 13, 2018; He was born December 09, 1927. Frank was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and served as a fireman on the USS Currier (DE-700) 2/1946 to 2/1948, and on the submarine USS Razorback (SS-394). He was a longtime driver and salesman for Pepsi Cola Bottling Co. until his retirement. He enjoyed woodworking, dancing, was an active VFW member and active in his church as an usher. Beloved husband of 43 years to the late Angeline R. Tagmire (nee Forziatti). Dear father of Elaine Steelman, George (Charmaine) Tagmire and Christine (George) Gabuzda; grandfather of 8 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Saturday 9 to 10 AM at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Holy Saviour Church, 50 Emerald Ave., Westmont, NJ. MURRAY, Donald Vincent, 83, of Naples, Florida passed away on April 8, 2018 due to complications of vascular dementia/Alzheimer's disease. The youngest of three sons, he was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Eleanor Murray (Bronx, New York) and his brothers, Richard and Robert. In his youth, growing up in the Norwood (Bainbridge) neighborhood of the Bronx, New York, Don was known as a fun-loving, humorous, troublemaker who often snuck off to indulge in his favorite activity-fishing. After graduating from Mount Saint Michael Academy, he served in the Navy on a submarine off of the Florida coast in the 1950s and, once he returned home, graduated from CUNY-City College with a degree in business. In 1961, he married the love of his life, Dorrit (Dee), and soon moved to Kinnelon, New Jersey while holding his first position as a salesman at 3M, a company for which he would work for 28 years. In 1975, he and his family relocated to Edina, Minnesota to be near 3M's headquarters in St. Paul and Don was eventually promoted to Executive Director of Health Care Services, a position he held until his retirement. In his free time, Don loved being in the outdoors. An avid fisherman, he went on regular expeditions to Northern Minnesota and Canada with his friends and son, Steven. He also enjoyed hunting and became an excellent golfer during his retirement years while living in Naples. He was known for his infectious and boisterous laugh. In addition to Dee, his wife of 57 years, Don is survived by his son, Steven Murray of St. Paul, Minnesota, daughter Susan Murray and grandsons, Munro and Quinn Murray of New York, New York. There will be no public service. Over the summer, Don's ashes will be scattered on one of his favorite Minnesota lakes.
