At random: Nautilus has long been a popular name for a submarine. Some of the more famous of these are Robert Fulton's NAUTILUS (1800), Jules Verne's fictional Nautilus, and the NAUTILUS of Sir Hubert Wilkins in which he attempted a voyage to the North Pole under the ice (1931). There have also been three U.S. submarines of that name, including the world's first nuclear powered submarine built by the Electric Boat Division.

BOMAR, Jack Luther, 88, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in Denton early on April 12, 2018. Although his mind and memory were sharp, his body couldn't keep up any longer. He was born in Santa Anna Texas on August 8, 1929, the son of John Luther and Mary Elizabeth Bomar. He served his country in the US Navy as a submariner aboard the USS Quillback (SS-424). After moving around many times in his younger years, the Bomars moved to Denton in 1961, where he raised his family, and operated a successful clothing business. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Doris Wyatt, and his wife Marjorie Stanhope Bomar. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Joni Harper Bomar, children, Jack Bomar, Jr. (Barbara), Vicki Cummings (Randy), Stan Bomar (Linda), Brant Bomar, Lori Spors (Greg), Christie Sanders ( Paul) Lisa Tucker (Mark), and Vonda LeVan; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. The family would especially like to thank Leland White, Dad's "younger brother", for his friendship and companionship for many years, and doctors Gary Fazio, and Jaspaul Bhangoo for taking care of Dad, keeping him around this long with their care. A small family service was held at Meador Funeral Home in Gainesville on Saturday, April 14th. Pastor Ross Appleton delivered a beautiful message and shared the Lord's Prayer according to his grandfather's wishes. Dad was laid to rest next to his mother in the Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Denton High School Family Assistance Foundation. A section 501(c)(3) charity in Dad's name. dentonhighcares.com.
