At random: In their history, submarines were called by many names such as 'eel boats', 'plunging boats', 'devil divers', and 'pig boats'. Technically, and by size, the submarine is a ship, but it has been called a boat since its earliest days, and the term is steeped in tradition. Submariners almost invariably call their ships 'boats".

Ron Martini = rontini = rontini.com

His BBS is the longest current running BBS and the most widely known BBS and website from my view. I'm told the CAUSS bbs, put up by Don Merrigan was the very first - but I don't go back the far (I was slow to warm to the internet

Ron's BBS is at http://messdeck.com/Forum/default.asp

Ron's a very avid reader of sub books and has been a long time force behind the preservation of submarine books.

Don's CAUSS BBS was where I cut my teeth. It was Ol Goat's After Battery before Ray started his. Don ran in to some family and health problems and had to shut down his board. That's were I first read the writings of Bob Harrison and Old Gringo. Hooked me. I had forgotten how much I loved the life we led.

Rontini? You know the guy in white with the funny hat whose ring everyone kisses? Kinda like that but submarines.

I think he's also an old Bubblehead living somewhere in Big Sky Country growing dental floss and farming ice cubes and trying to find ways to make Golf more than a two month season.. Oh and he is the Wizard of another Submarine BBS wonder of the internet....

Smiley - I'm pretty sure that Rontini/Martini lives in Sheridan, Wyoming. I think that is where I've ordered different things from him.

And - Montana is Big Sky Country.

You're just gonna have to come out this way so I can give you a geography lesson. It's pretty here in the Black Hills. And, in spite of what Ralph says, we have three months of spring; three months of summer; and three months of autumn. And the regular winter season. That is, when when it remembers to leave on schedule.

Now Cora, you make it sound like I pick on you about your weather.lol We had a nice refreshing 60 here in Charleston this morning and should reach into the mid 80s today. If I could just figure out a way to keep it like this year round I'd pass the formula on to you in South Dakota, but then again I do know what fat chance means.
