Atlantic 05/06/74: The USS Jallao (SS-368) experiences an explosion in the engine room while providing services in the Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, operating area. An electrical arc ignited the engine room atmosphere causing a quick flash.The submarine surfaces and returns to port needing minor repairs and soot clean-up. Sixteen crew members are hospitalized with smoke inhalation effects and one with burns.

Oh, a fire ball. There is a video out there someplace showing one going through a diesel boat. Looks scary a hell.

The electricians in manuvering room would scare hell out of us engine room types, by telling us they would attempt to throw a hugh fireball and watch as it bounced around the engineroom. This threat would be announced to us as we went from series battery to parallel battery. As a precaution, even tho we knew the electricians lied like hell, I hung out near the fwd engine rm hatch, just in case !!!
