Subject: Tuesday Obit

MINICK, David James, 96, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2018, at his home in Honeoye Falls, NY. Mr. Minick was born April 20, 1922, in New Castle, PA, to Faye and Arthur James Minick. He was a graduate of New Castle High School and a member of Third United Presbyterian Church of New Castle. He was a World War II veteran with United States Navy submarine service in the South Pacific aboard the submarines USS Hammerhead (SS-364) and USS Plaice (SS-360). He was TMSN when released by the Navy. After the war, he was employed by Johnson Bronze Co. in New Castle and then by NCR Corp. in Ithaca, from which he retired in 1985. In 2016, Mr. Minick was one of several World War II veterans who participated in Honor Flight Rochester, traveling to Washington, DC, to visit the nation's memorials. He is preceded in death by his parents; his sisters Clarice Herbert and Pauline Bowen, and his son Philip Minick who died in 2007.He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Jane Minick of Honeoye Falls; daughters Lynne Dickens of Honeoye Falls, and Karen Perretta of San Antonio, TX; their husbands Gordon Dickens and Joseph Perretta; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren A memorial service will be held Dec. 1 in Honeoye Falls. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at the family's convenience. Published in Ithaca Journal on Sept. 18, 2018
