CLARK, Mark William, 62, of Wilmington, MA, Seacoast NH, passed away suddenly On Wednesday, October 10, 2018. Mark was born in Chicago, IL on July 24, 1956. He was the son of the late Glenna Woodbine Clark of Wilmington and Medfield, MA, and William Raymond Winters-Clark of Duluth, MN. Mark was raised in Medfield, MA, graduating from Medfield High School in 1974. In 1975 Mark joined the US Navy serving in the submarine fleet onboard the USS Tullibee (SSN-597), USS Glenard P Lipscomb (SSN-685), USS Philadelphia (SSN-690) and the USS Shark (SSN-591). He was honorably discharged from active service in 1987. Mark was a Life Member of the United States Submarine Veterans association (USSVI) and of its Marblehead Base as well as the USS Tullibee Association. During his professional career, Mark held a variety of senior facilities and engineering management positions as well as provided specialized consulting to many prominent Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical companies in the Boston and Cambridge area. Mark earned a variety of professional credentials from the University of New Hampshire and Northeastern University, including designations as a Certified Plant Maintenance Manager, Certified Hazard Recognition Specialist and a Certified Fire Alarm ITM Specialist. Mark was an active member of the Association for Facilities Engineers (AFE) and served as a regional Vice President and as an instructor within the AFE’s Certified Professional Maintenance Manager program. Mark is survived by his wife, Nancee Jenne Clark of Wilmington, MA and Seacoast NH, and his beloved children: Jennifer Clark of Millis, MA, and her two sons John and Logan Manning; Brenda Clark Elwell and her husband Todd of Holliston, MA, and their two girls, Charlotte and Catherine; and Ashley Garcia Clark and her partner Kenneth Calise, of North Providence, RI, and their two girls, Arianna Garcia and Maliyah Calise. He also leaves his brother Anthony and his wife, Pam Winters of Yorba Linda, CA. Mark was eternally grateful for the love and support of his recovery family, therefore, the family suggests donations in lieu of flowers to the Caron Foundation (caron.org) in Wernersville, PA, because “your generosity makes a world of difference to countless patients, families and communities affected by addiction. With your support, we can continue to promote healing and transform lives”. PATTEN, Gerry J., 87, passed away Wednesday in a local hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Seattle, WA, and has called Benicia his home since 1972. Gerry was a 26 year veteran of the U.S. Navy, including time spent in the reserves before retiring in 1974. After his retirement he spent many years working as a Private Investigator before retiring in 2016. Gerry was a HAM radio operator and a member of Benicia Amateur Radio Communications. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Shriners and the Pasadena Elks Club. He was active with Demolay and Rainbow Girls when his children were younger and was a volunteer docent at the submarine USS Pampanito while it was berthed in San Francisco. Gerry was also a founding member of the Benicia Yacht Club and was a faithful blood donor for many years. He is survived by Lorraine, his wife of 62 years; sons, MacGregor Patten and Donald (Katy) Patten; daughter, Nancy Coffin, and his grandchildren, Jacob Coffin, Maxwell Patten, Nicolette Coffin, Joshua Patten and Nicholaus Patten. Funeral service will be 4 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 16, at Passalacqua Funeral Chapel. Burial with military honors will be at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, Dixon.
