GEORGE, Charles Harrison, Sr., 91, of Baton Rouge, LA, went home to be with our precious Lord and Savior on October 26, 2018, surrounded by his family in his home. Charlie was born in Sciotoville, Ohio, to James H. and Laura G. George on August 12, 1927. He graduated from high school and immediately left home to serve in the Navy. He served in WWII on Balao-class submarines [Boarfish, Cusk] as a quartermaster signalman experiencing many adventures. Sharing those many experiences was one of his favorite past times. After serving i the Navy, he attended Texas A & I University in Kingsville, TX, where he graduated as a chemical engineer. There he met his lovely wife, Mildred, of 66 years. He worked in the pulp and paper industry his entire career, even living in Brazil, for several years. As an Eagle Scout, one of Charlie's passions was working with the Boy Scouts of America. He mentored many young men throughout the years and earned the prestigious Silver Beaver Award. His passion to serve God was exemplified through his faithful service to St. Andrews UMC serving as a Sunday school teacher, member of the Methodist Men, choir member, and various committees over the years. He is survived by Mildred Jesse George (spouse), sons Charles "Bud" H. George, Jr. (Amii) and Samuel Lee George (Debbie), daughter Deborah George Fitzgerald (Mike), and grandsons M. Patrick Fitzgerald, II, and Ashton Charles Fitzgerald as well as many nephews and nieces. Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, James & Laura George and brothers Robert Preston George and James Berlen George. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 31 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Resthaven Gardens Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, LA 70816. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 1 at 12:30 P.M. at St. Andrews UMC, 17510 Monitor Ave, Baton Rouge, LA. Pallbearers are Richard Holbrook, Rick Holm, Jerry Menard, Bill Pedneau, Jimmy Spencer, Bob Wilson. Honorary pallbearers are Ken Burns, Tony Cerniglia, Jay Haindel, John Harris, Robert Purvis, Sr., Robert Purvis, Jr., David Villarrubia, and John Watson. In lieu of flowers please make donations to St. Andrews United Methodist Church, 17510 Monitor Ave, Baton Rouge, LA, or the United States Submarine Veterans Charitable Foundation, (USSVI, ATTN: Subvet Charity, P.O. Box 3870, Silverdale, WA 98383, make checks to USSVCF) in Charles Harrison George, Sr.'s, name. RANDALL, Perry A., 74, passed away unexpectedly Sept. 26, 2018, in Rhode Island. He was born April 11, 1944, in Sturgis, to Walter (Pete)?Randall and Margaret (Rehn)?Randall. He spent his early life in the Sturgis and Centreville area, graduating with the Centreville High School class of 1962. Upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy, serving 24 years in the submarine division as an E9 Master Chief Petty Officer. He then spent 20 years as a sub-contractor to the Navy and retired in Hope Valley, R.I. His greatest accomplishment was being able to mentor younger sailors. He loved his career in the Navy and all his great friendships, one in particular, Bad Bob Johnson stands out. He was preceded in death by his parents; a half-sister, Katherine Trattles; a half-brother, Ralph Randall; and his first wife, Donna (Mitchell) Randall. He is survived by his loving wife, Maria Randall; his daughters, Michele Harden of Moyock, N.C., and Jennifer Randall of Ahoskie, N.C.; sons Dale Randall of Folly Beach, S.C., Aaron Randall of Newport News, Va., and Shawn Gibbons, of Phoenix; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters Karen (Paul) Arndt of Kanab, Utah, and Beth (Jerry) Seiler of Mendon. His family plans to bury his ashes in the veteran cemetery in Exeter, R.I., on his birthday, April 11, 2019. The date also is the Navy submarine birthday. GURSKY, Earl A., was born on August 13, 1932 and passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2018. Earl was a resident of Arizona at the time of passing. Earl was in the US Navy for 20 years, serving that time in submarines. A memorial Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 4, 2018 at Brookdale Senior Living, 2080 South Ironwood Drive, Apache Junction, Arizona 85120. REYNOLDS, Robert James, a lifelong resident of Bennington, VT, passed away peacefully October 26, 2018 at his home in Searsburg, VT. Born in Pepperell, MA, October 8, 1925, the son of Wilfred J. Reynolds and Emma S. Derosier, he received his education in Bennington schools and the U.S. Navy. A veteran of World War II and the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Navy and the Vermont Army National Guard. His most significant naval duty was on the USS Diablo SS 479, as a submariner and on the USS Jack W. Wilke destroyer escort, as a gyro compass navigator. After discharge from active naval duty, he returned to Bennington and began his civilian career as a master electrician, working for Sprague Electric Company, Ben Mont Paper Company, Globe Battery and finally for his own company. His beloved wife of sixty-three years, June Stratton Reynolds, was his company's bookkeeper. He also taught fourth year electrical studies for the state of Vermont. A member of the First Methodist Church, he spent eighteen years as the church's troop leader for the Boy Scouts of America. Bob enjoyed hobbies such as gardening, woodworking, and fishing. He was a member of many organizations-The American Legion Post 13, the VFW Post 1332, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, the Moose Lodge, the Disabled American Veterans as a service officer, and the Masonic Mount Anthony Lodge No.1313, including the thirty second degree of the Scottish Rite and the charitable activities of the Cairo, Shriners International. He will be missed by his family, friends, and the community. He was predeceased by his wife, June and six brothers and sisters. He is survived by a sister, Dorothy Bibens of Springfield, VT, a daughter, Jacqueline Towne of Guilderland, NY, and a son, Robert James Reynolds, Jr., of Bennington. He leaves three grand-children- Brandy J. Reynolds of Manchester, VT, James T. Towne, III (Robin), of Gloucester, MA, and Calum J. Reynolds (Lynn) of Benbrook, TX, and eleven great grand-children- Arianna, Pheobe, Sierra, Matthew, Maeve, Jackson, Nathaniel, James, Mason, Logan and Austin as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Notice: Calling hours are Thursday, November 1 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home, 213 West Main Street, Bennington, VT. Services will take place Friday, November 2 at 1:00 pm at the Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home with burial immediately after the services at the White Chapel on the Chapel Road.
